Public Saivite Orientation at Helvetia St. Pierre
It was a very encouraging event at the Helvetia temple located in a very posh residential area in St. Pierre which is just a few minutes drive to the University of Mauritius.
There was a nice response, mainly from devotees of the temple at a time of the school vacations when families are mostly out on outings on Sundays.
The presentation started with an arati to Lord Ganesha by the Sivacharya of the temple. The president then welcomed everyone and talked about the aim of such a presentation which was to help better understand the saivite religion and basic Hindu concepts like karma and reincarnation. The presentation included an animated Keynote on our12 saivite beliefs and the Bodhinatha's teaching movie entitled "My Friend Lord Ganesha."
The presentation with explanations conducted by Kulapati Rajen Manick, was interwoven with Natchintanai singing and explanations by our Saiva Siddhanta Church Natchintanai & Bhajan Workshop. Each song and explanation on the song given by one of the NW participants tallied with the basic concept of the presentation. The bhajan performance was really inspiring and the temple music system was excellent.
During the seesion Kulapati Manick brought everyone to chant AUM the proper way and also did a simple guided meditation on the Pancha Sivahaytania. Kulapati Youdananda Munian gave a brief introduction on our Spiritual Park and invited everyone to attend our next Ganesha Homa.
At the end of the session Kulamata Premila Manick gave a brief introduction on a newly released Gurudeva's Upadesha pamphlets by the Nachintanaii Workshop entiltled "Singing to the Gods'. She emphasized on the teachings of Gurudeva about proper attitude to singing devotional songs. The pamphlets were later distributed to all present. Kulapati Parmesh Pallanee concluded the event thanking the temple management and all devotees who had been attentively listening to our teachings for two hours.
We thank Kulapatis and Kulamatas Mougam Periatumbee, Arnasalon, Munian, Pallanee and Valaytan for their kind presence and support. Aum.
