Thai Pusam Cavadee at Goodlands
Our Church sishyas participated in the Thai Pusam Cavadee celebration at temples in various parts of the island. This is a great festival and which is also a public holiday. The public religious procession usually draws thousands of devotees and most Hindus worship Lord Muruga with offerings of fruits and milk on that day. However, everyone, non Hindus and tourists, turn out on the main roads to see the beautifully decorated cavadee frames carried by devotees as a penance on that day.
We share with you a few photos of this pious celebration at the Goodlands Siva Soopramaniar Kovil. Prior to the festival, devotees attended ten days of special evening pujas at the Temple. Many of our sisyas were present at the Temple to sinf hyms toi Lord Muruga. Kulapati Rajen Manick was invited by the Temple management to give a five minutes explanation every evening related to Thai Pusam and Lord Muruga. Various sishyas from different parts of the island travelled to Goodlands to carry the cavadee at the Goodlands temple. The spiritual atmosphere was very high inside the temple during the final arati and sishyas said they felt really energized by Lord Muruga's shakti. Here are a few photos for you... Aum.
